ITINERARIES
Along the Coastal Park of Riviera dei Fiori by bike
25/03/2025
A 24-km stretch of coast for a day full of sport, nature and relaxation by the sea in Western Liguria

The day starts in the morning at Al 10 Nolo Bici in the picturesque Piazzetta Garibaldi in San Lorenzo al Mare, a small fishing village with a medieval atomosphere. An e-bike is the best choice if you want to make the occasional detour with some ease and be ready to take the cycle path of the Coast Park of Riviera dei Fiori, following the route of the former Genoa-Ventimiglia railway along the coast.

Along the route (24 kilometers in total), you will find kiosks and villages, where you can get refreshments, and enjoy breathtaking views such as the one from the view point located at the exit of a long tunnel. From there, after a short ascent, you can reach the picturesque village of Costarainera, where you can walk among its arches and stone houses and visit the church of San Giovanni Battista.

Going further uphill, you will reach the charming village of Lingueglietta with its characteristic fortified church of San Pietro or head down to Cipressa, also visible from the Fortezza Gallinaro.

After a visit to Villa Biener, almost like a miniature Park Güell, you can ride back towards the sea, taking the cycle path which quickly leads to Santo Stefano al Mare where you can dive into the sea to cool off.

Let us get back on our bikes and ride towards Riva Ligure, an old fishing village with its typical colourful houses. You will then reach Arma di Taggia, a seaside borough of Taggia, home of the renowned Ligurian olives. On the seafront, we recommend visiting the Sanctuary of “Grotta dell’Arma”, an enchanting little church built into the rock.

If you still have some energy for a last climb, you can ascend to Bussana Vecchia, a beautiful village known as “the town of the artists” — it really is a gem. Otherwise, you can continue towards Sanremo, the heart of Riviera dei Fiori and reach the final stage of this route Ospedaletti, tucked away in a natural amphitheatre between Capo Nero and Capo Sant’Ampelio.
