The White Truffle Fairs and Markets of San Miniato and Crete Senesi

It’s the most prized truffle of all, and Tuscany is its favourite habitat. We’re talking about the white truffle and the unmissable events surrounding it.

SAN MINIATO WHITE TRUFFLE FAIR AND MARKET
11-12, 18-19 and 25-26 November
(one hour from The Mall Firenze)
As every year, the last three weekends of November bring the return of the extraordinary white truffle fair of San Miniato, in the province of Pisa, this year in its 52nd edition. It’s an opportunity to sample and buy the very best products made with the San Miniato White Truffle, in a beautiful town that becomes an open-air tasting event, where well-known chefs create their interpretations of the king of the autumn table and other organic, locally-sourced and Italian ingredients. Alongside white truffles you’ll find all the best in excellent Italian food products such as cured meats and cheeses, organic produce and wines.
In a continuation of the previous edition, which attracted some 60,000 visitors, the theme of this year’s event is sustainability, because this delicious truffle cannot exist without a healthy ecosystem.

WHITE TRUFFLE FESTIVAL OF THE CRETE SENESI
11-12 and 18-19 November
(just over an hour from The Mall Firenze)
The pretty village of San Giovanni d’Asso is home to the most important truffle fair in the Siena area, now in its 37th edition. Here too you’ll find food from award-winning chefs, like the gala dinner on 11 November prepared jointly by Nicola Gronchi of the Romano restaurant in Viareggio and Iside De Cesare of La Parolina in Trevinano, both Michelin star holders. The programme also features guided tastings of classics like quails’ eggs and white truffle or pecorino, white truffle and  champagne, cooking demos, guided visits to the truffle woods, trekking and even two exhibitions: Anima, a solo show by Japanese artist Hanako Kumazawa in the church of San Pietro in Villore, and Carte Rituali, with paintings by Luciano Radicati, in the Sala del Camino of the town’s castle.
