The best tennis clubs in Florence
09/08/2024
Sport, nature and beauty. The top addresses in the city where the word “tennis” was coined in 1325

CIRCOLO DEL TENNIS FIRENZE 1898
With more than 120 years of history, it is one of the oldest tennis clubs in Italy and one of the Centenary Clubs, a global umbrella group of some of the most prestigious in the sport (just over thirty in total). We are in the splendid Cascine Park. Ten clay courts plus two synthetic turf courts, one multipurpose and the other for five-a-side football. A swimming pool designed by Gherardo Bosio, which in summer is overlooked by one of the two restaurants, and the diving board designed by Pier Luigi Nervi, architect of the Artemio Franchi Stadium.

MATCH BALL FIRENZE COUNTRY CLUB
A school that has trained many champions, including Filippo Volandri, former world 25 in the ATP ranking and captain of the Italian National Tennis Team in the final round of the 2023 Davis Cup. Overlooking the Arno, it is a true green island devoted to sport and leisure, with sixteen tennis courts, a gym, swimming pool, restaurant and bar, surrounded by lawns, olive trees and cypresses.

CIRCOLO TENNIS CARRAIA
Surrounded by greenery, 5 minutes from the centre of Florence, for over 50 years it has been one of the main points of reference for those who love tennis and want to enrol in a tennis school which can boast three players who have entered the world rankings and four who have become ITF masters. Clay courts (three) and a restaurant with a panoramic terrace.

ASSI GIGLIO ROSSO
ASSI (Arno Società Sportiva Italiana), has been the meeting place for Florentine sports since 1922. Athletics is the pride of the club at a competitive level, with athletes who have participated in 16 Olympic Games, but football, rugby and tennis are also played, with six clay courts, the first of which appeared before 1930.
