The best restaurants in Forte dei Marmi

Unmissable addresses with a flavour of the sea

BAGNO SANTA MARIA
Viale Italico, 9 – Forte dei Marmi
ph. +39 0584 81177
Bagno Santa Maria retains all the style of Forte dei Marmi in the early 60s, complete with traditional tamarisks and green wooden cabins providing shelter from the wind. The restaurant offers simple but beautifully prepared food for a lunch with sea views; spaghetti with clams are a fixture on the menu.

MAITÒ
Viale Achille Franceschi, 29 – Forte dei Marmi
ph. +39 0584 1786241
A cult destination in Versilia, right on the beach. Alongside the many fish dishes, there are also some excellent meat options, plus the celebrated Penne alla Maitò, with tomato, parmigiano reggiano and a knob of butter – sounds too simple? Tell that to Robert De Niro and the many other celebs who love it! Also well worth a visit is the spin-off restaurant at the Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte in Viareggio, with its terrace and fabulous views.

FILIPPO FORTE DEI MARMI
Via Sant’Elme, 6 – Forte dei Marmi
ph. +39 0584 81376
In Versilia, Filippo is synonymous with authenticity, flavour, creativity and joy. From meatballs to salt-crusted fish, tordelli alla lucchese to raw seafood, it’s a truly unique experience. From the parent restaurant in Pietrasanta, where it can be found at Via Padre Barsanti 45, Filippo has opened new seaside branches, first in Forte dei Marmi and, from summer 2023, also at Bagno Roma Fiumetto in Marina di Pietrasanta.

RISTORANTE LORENZO
Via Giosuè Carducci, 61 – Forte dei Marmi
ph. +39 0584 874030
Anyone who loves seafood has to try this restaurant. The mayonnaise prepared tableside is justly famous, the service impeccable, but best of all is the fish, which couldn’t be fresher. A longstanding Michelin-starred restaurant, right in the heart of Forte dei Marmi.

PESCE BARACCA
Viale Achille Franceschi, 2 – Forte dei Marmi
ph. +39 0584 1716337
One venue, three experiences: restaurant, fishmonger’s and street food. The only thing on the menu is the day’s catch, which diners can choose off the large counter. The must-eat dish is the spaghetto allo scoglio: it’s prepared according to the classic family recipe, handed down through the generations since the first restaurant opened in 1964.

Forte dei Marmi is the jewel of Versilia, and less than two hours’ drive from The Mall Firenze.
