At the end of the sixties, the Florentine traders launched a competition in honour of the Florentine architect Bernardo Buontalenti. The Badiani ice cream parlour won a prize with this simple but unique flavour, named Buontalenti. Since then, this special creamy ice cream has delighted the palate of Florentines and tourists making Badiani one of the most popular ice cream parlours in the city.

It takes its name after the famous Florentine bridge of Carraia, one of the oldest in Florence. Just a stone’s throw away from Santa Croce, one of the oldest ice cream parlours in Florence. Since 1930 the fourth generation of family members still invent and produce home-made ice cream with high-quality ingredients and plenty of passion. Our suggestion? Their ice cream served through a buchetta (tiny hole-in-the-wall) Make sure you try the Crema Vivoli: made with milk, sugar, eggs and dextrose. Without any other flavourings.

Cinzia Otri has been working for about ten years experimenting and surprising us with creations using a good choice of ingredients. Make sure you try the “recycled” Green Vibes sorbet made with an infusion of orange and lemon peel, ginger and bay leaves.
