A veritable institution since 1933, where personalities such as Gabriele D’Annunzio, Henry Moore and celebrities from the worlds of sports and business have passed through, and who still choose it today for its retro yet elegant atmosphere, with its cabins covered in terracotta tiles, wooden life rafts and sailboats. It’s a charming postcard from the Forte dei Marmi of yesteryear.

BAGNO SANTA MARIA

One of the most fashionable bathing establishments of the moment, completely renovated but in keeping with tradition, and designed by Michele Bönan, an internationally renowned architect who has worked on some of the most important hotels in the world. On the beach you will find the typical Fortemarmine roller sunshades, which also inspired the large awning that shades the bar’s patio. The excellent restaurant is also not to be missed.

TWIGA

For a contrast, there is the first Twiga, opened by Flavio Briatore, who in 2001 launched a style that has become iconic, and breaks the mould completely: a triumph of palm trees and flowers, white and wooden furnishings, the swimming pool spotted like the mantle of the large giraffes that ‘graze’ here and there, which have become a symbol of the brand. Then at dinner the music and entertainment is abundant, and launches you in the into a night at the club.

MAITÒ

At Maitò, it all began in 1960, with one of the first pied dans l’eau restaurants in Forte dei Marmi. The restaurant has remained intact, but the beach club has been expanded and recently renovated and now offers an incredible ambience, complete with spa. The spectacular pool is surrounded by suites, cabanas and water islands, where one can also enjoy aperitifs and dinner.

BAGNO ALPEMARE

Montale never gave up his cabin, number 16. And then there were Ungaretti, Mina, and Ray Charles… just to name a few of the personalities who frequented this historic bathing establishment, which is now run by the family of the great tenor Andrea Bocelli. They have transformed it into an elegant art gallery-establishment, with sculptures that stretch from the pine forest to the beach.
