Passion for beauty and hospitality, imagination and a touch of humour. This is the spirit with which Betty Soldi, her husband Matteo Perduca and architect Francesco Maestrelli faced the challenge of converting a fourteenth-century building, protected by the Fine Arts Office and former residence of the aristocratic Florentine family Velluti, into their SoprArno Suites Bed and Breakfast Boutique.
13 rooms in the heart of the Oltrarno neighborhood, between the Basilica of Santo Spirito and Palazzo Pitti, just steps away from the Ponte Vecchio, spread across three floors and looking out onto a quiet courtyard facing Via Maggio, the famous Florentine street of antique dealers. Each with its own personality. Inside the rooms, high frescoed ceilings, vintage-style bathtubs placed in the room, chairs from old English schools, antiques such as confessionals transformed into original pieces of furniture, side by side with contemporary works of art and design specially created for these spaces. A fun and unexpected mix of classicism and eclecticism.
A modern home for travelers, with furniture filled with memories of the past, for those who choose it as their elegant refuge.
Guests enjoy the privilege of waking up to the sweet smell of freshly-baked croissants and other delicacies waiting for them at SottArno, the caféon the ground floor, exclusively for hotel guests until 10.30 am, when it opens its doors to all those who wish to stop for a delicious break in a truly special place.
