Only one hour and a half away from the Mall Firenze, Peccioli and Ghizzano reveal the most creative and unexpected side of the Tuscan hills between contemporary art, extremely colourful installations and ever-changing landscapes.
In Peccioli, we recommend starting your day at the Pasticceria Ferretti, a historic bar and the ideal choice for breakfast with freshly baked products and cakes. From there you can enter the village with its medieval alleys, panoramic terraces and contemporary art installations which blend perfectly with the historic buildings.
Walk across Endless Sunset by Patrick Tuttofuoco: a suspended walkway adorned with mirrors, fluorescent colours and lighting which donate an immersive experience while admiring the landscape of Valdera. Within a short distance, there is also the Palazzo Senza Tempo, a building characterised with a special installation by Daniel Buren, one of the most famous contemporary artists in the world. Its suspended terrace overlooking the landscape offers a breathtaking view of the Tuscan hills.
Not far from the historic centre, you will find the Giganti of Peccioli: gigantic statues of human figures emerging from the ground that have become one of the most Instagrammable places in the area.
A great option for lunch is Bulleri Macelleria & Bistrot, renowned for the quality of its meat dishes, traditional Tuscan dishes and contemporary ambience.
In the afternoon, you can head to Ghizzano, only a few minutes away by car. This small village has become famous thanks to the artistic installation by David Tremlett. In Via di Mezzo, the façades of the houses transform into a large geometrical installation with green, ochre, pink and terracotta shades, all colours inspired by the surrounding landscape.
