A magical season to discover the autumn and to taste food and wine experiences in Tuscany: the foliage.
Autumn sees the explosion of the colors of nature and in Tuscany there are many places where you can observe the magic of the foliage. The National Park of the Casentinesi Woods offers one of the most fascinating natural show in this period: the colors of the wood that, for only a few weeks, are lit up with infinite shades of yellow, red, green and orange. Just to enhance this incredible natural heritage, the National Park of the Casentinesi Woods offers Autunno Slow, a rich program of events with trekking in the woods, photography workshops and festivals dedicated to typical products such as chestnuts and cheese.
Autunno Slow offers seven weeks dedicated to the nature of the National Park. To breathe and admire the autumn discovering one of the most fascinating natural show. Autumn is also the season of taste and flavors typical of the area enhanced by the many festivals that enliven this period and help to appreciate the genuineness of the products. The foliage is therefore the ideal occasion for ‘eating slow’, savoring local recipes based on typical products of the season such as mushrooms, chestnuts, pumpkins, honey, ravioli cheese from the Tuscan-Romagna Apennines, Tuscan pecorino cheese and other delicious flavors from ancient recipes and protected by Slow Food. In Marradi, there is the famous Chestnut Festival, where you can taste the “Marradi brown”, with which you fill the tortelli, you make cakes, jams, roasted chestnuts (called “burned”) and marrons glacés. For the occasion you can reach Marradi traveling on board a suggestive steam train, which connects the town to Florence.
