What’s it like to grow up in a family where herbalism has been a passion for five generations?
It means growing up immersed in the distillation of essential oils, surrounded by stills, fields of lavender and fragrances. Day by day you acquire knowledge without realising it, eventually becoming the bearer of a tradition which later, as an adult, you have a moral obligation to preserve, but also to develop.
What’s your approach to production?
We’ve been an organic company for the past 30 years; our slogan is “Organic is the new luxury”. Our philosophy has one foot in the past and the other in the future. We try and use plants and extracts we produce ourselves, and for those we buy in, we choose certified organic producers or small growers. What’s more, all our fragrances are developed in our own laboratory.
What kinds of plants and flowers do you grow?
We grow lavender with relaxing properties, perfume roses for their anti-ageing and revitalising action, rosemary, an excellent vasodilator, helichrysum and chamomile with soothing and decongestant properties, and clary sage. We also produce organic extra virgin Taggiasca olive oil, which we use as a base for the emulsions in our cosmetics.
What kind of experiences do you offer visitors to the farm?
We offer both guided tours and themed workshops for anyone interested in the world of fragrances. The most spectacular time to come is definitely between early May and late July, when all the various plants are flowering, but we’re open for visits from March to November.
