La Chèvre d’Or is one of the legendary hotels on the French Riviera, located between Nice and Monaco, in the heart of the medieval village of Eze. It is located on a limestone rocky peak, at the top of which the view embraces the Mediterranean coast. Thanks to the discreet luxury and the two-star cuisine of Arnaud Faye, the structure has been able to seduce the most demanding customers and attract famous people from all over the world.
This is the ideal setting that attracted the virtuoso violinist Zlatko Balokovic in the early 1930s. Legend has it that during his walks in the sleepy alleys, a goat with a golden coat guided him to a building that he immediately fell in love with. Over the years, he bought and then restored this impressive residence which has become the famous Château de la Chèvre d´Or.
The hotelier Robert Wolf, conquered by the castle, decided to buy it in 1953 and turn it into a restaurant. The turning point came in 1956 when Walt Disney became aware of the majestic place. The fame of the establishment quickly took on an international dimension and journalists from all over the world flocked to it. Walt Disney not only gave La Chèvre d’Or its aura, but also inspired Robert Wolf with an idea that would change the future of the structure: to make Eze’s restaurant a first-class hotel.
Bright and spacious, the rooms offer an exceptional setting with all the components of a typical Provençal village: rough stone walls, exposed beams, scents of the Mediterranean scrub and skylights that open onto the sea.
From standard rooms to more refined suites, the 44 accommodation options at La Chèvre d’Or play the card of discreet luxury: no ostentation, but a chic and contemporary decoration.
The classic décor is also found in the dining room. The windows reveal the majestic panorama of the coast, which embraces the great blue in a single glance: the bay of Villefranche and Cap Ferrat.
Driven by a complete culinary experience, the visitor will be carried away by Arnaud Faye’s starred cuisine, which is at the same time sunny, technical and generous.
At noon, dishes are enjoyed on the most beautiful terrace of La Chèvre d’Or, which opens onto the coast, and in the evening in the adjoining room, for a more intimate but equally warm atmosphere.
