You can start your day in the heart of the old town, Vieux Nice, where you can enjoy breakfast with a hot croissant or a fresh “jus d’orange” at the famous Marché aux Fleurs Cours Saleya (open Tuesday to Sunday). Then you can go for a stroll along the Promenade des Anglais – one of the most iconic promenades on the French Riviera along with the Croisette in Cannes. You can admire the sea while relaxing on its picturesque blue chairs or take a nice swim in the Plage du Centenaire or Plage Opera.
For lunch, you may head back to the historic centre to savour the traditional “socca” (chickpea pancake) at Chez Thérésa or experience the typical French atmosphere of Le Bistrot des Serruriers.
The afternoon can be spent admiring the artworks at the Musée Matisse housed in a villa surrounded by olive trees and at the impressive Musée Marc Chagall.
After that, take a visit to the Jardin Botanique de Nice – 3000 different species of plants in an area of 3.5 hectares – or the regenerating Parc Phoenix with its twenty themed gardens.
When the sun starts to set, the best choice is an aperitif at Le Plongeoir: a refined lounge and restaurant literally hanging over the sea with actual trampolines. For dinner, you can choose to move to another location such as Les Agitateurs, a contemporary wine bar and Michelin-starred bistro or the charming Le Chantecler where the Belle Époque style is combined with gourmet dishes.
Finally, you can end the day admiring the sparkling coastline from one of the many rooftop bars in Nice such as the Bocca Nissa, sipping a cocktail surrounded by the timeless elegance of the Riviera.
