The Maremma Park, also known as Uccellina Regional Park,is bordered by the Uccellina Mountains, a chain of sinuous hills running parallel to the Tyrrhenian coast and covered with Mediterranean scrub.

The Maremma Natural Park shows tourists a rare bond of ecosystems, where man has intervened over the years without altering this delicate balance. Water, earth and vegetation merge deeply in the Trappola marshes and the mouth of the Ombrone river, while the historic pinewood of Marina di Alberese is home to an incredible array of wild animals and interesting plants. The Uccellina Mountains stretchalong the coastal strip and are protected sites because of their high naturalistic, historical and landscape value.

There a multiple suggested itineraries to let you immerse yourself in the greenery of this paradise and experience unforgettable moments surrounded by trees such as holm oaks, brooms, laurel, myrtle, cork oaks, pines and local animals, including wild boar, foxes, fallow deer and roe deer. Among the many man-made monuments, the more interesting is the Abbey of Saint Rabano, founded by the Benedictines, fortified in 1321 against barbaric raids, and destroyed in the 1400s by the Siena people. The central part of the protected area can be reached through the Park, connecting the centre of Alberese with Pratini, from which you can continue on foot along marked routes.

The park can be visited year-round and offers a wide choice of trails. You can follow the footpaths, observing animals and birdwatching in the typical Mediterranean scrub, between meadows and marshes where the bird colonies have found their natural habitat. You can also use glide on the waterways with canoes, or enjoy this wild nature with views on a unique and crystalline sea by mountain bike or on horseback. The park can also be visited by night, an unmissable opportunity to be under the stars surrounded by nocturnal sounds.
