The most beautiful beaches on the Tuscan coast
12/07/2024
A journey from north to south, taking in long stretches of sand and dreamy coves two hours from The Mall Firenze

SAN VINCENZO AND THE GULF OF BARATTI
We’re on the edge of the Rimigliano Coastal Park, with the magnificent sandy beaches of San Vincenzo and the bay overlooked by one of the area’s most important archaeological sites, the ancient Etruscan settlement of Populonia. Nearby, a narrow footpath leads to the delightful little cove of Buca delle Fate.

STERPAIA COASTAL PARK
Kilometres of fine golden sand and beautiful crystal-clear water. Behind the beach stands a lush pine forest, the perfect place to escape the sun or stop for a snack.

CALA VIOLINA
Maremma’s must famous beach. This natural paradise of transparent water surrounded by dunes and mediterranean scrub is reached on foot via a shady path, some 20 minutes from the car park. It’s part of a protected nature reserve, and you need to book online to access it.

LE ROCCHETTE AND LE MARZE
Leaving the delightful town of Castiglione della Pescaia, the first of these is on the way to Punta Ala and offers a choice of golden sand or cliffs, dominated by the castle that gives the beach its name. For the second, head towards Marina di Grosseto to find a sweeping stretch of sand backed by shady pine woods.

CALA DEL GESSO
The most stunning bay on the Monte Argentario promontory: an expanse of small pebbles overlooked by an ancient Spanish watchtower.

DUNE DI FENIGLIA
We’re in the Orbetello Lagoon Nature Reserve, and Feniglia is a 6 km beach with golden sand, shallow water and pine forests. Perfect for families.
