ITINERARIES
The beautiful and fascinating Versilia
09/07/2021
Beach Clubs, rxclusive Hotels, must-try Restaurants and unforgettable Tours

Versilia is not only one of Tuscany’s most exclusive destinations, but it also offers a wide range of options. Here are three top itineraries for you!

The perfect day in Forte dei Marmi

A land of myths and legends, since always a favorite with celebrities. A day in Forte dei Marmi is relaxing and filled with the atmosphere of bygone times. The day starts with breakfast at Caffè Sambo or, for those who wake up later in the morning, with brunch at Il Giardino. For a swim and lunch, you can take your pick: from the historic Bagno Silvio, with its famous spaghetti with arselle, to the exclusive Alpemare beach club, owned by Andrea Bocelli. Or, for a more casual lunch option,  Orlando’s famous schiacciatine. As the sun goes down, take a walk along the  iconic pier and have an aperitivo, either at La Capannina di Franceschi, also the perfect after-dinner venue, or at the elegant 67 Sky Lounge Bar of the Hotel Principe Forte dei Marmi, followed by dinner at the Michelin-starred restaurants of the Lux Lucis Hotel or downtown at Lorenzo’s.

One final piece of advice:  if you want to feel like a born-and-bred Fortemarmino, rent a bike  to move about town or along the promenade, nothing better to put you in the local mood!

Pietrasanta, for art and style lovers

Pietrasanta is a corner of Provence in Versilia, with its many art galleries and exhibitions all year long, in particular, throughout the summer season, when Piazza Duomo and the old town center become an open-air museum filled with monumental works of art, this year by Sicilian artist Giuseppe Veneziano. The magnificent Duomo is covered with white marble, while the  Complesso di Sant’Agostino houses the Italian Newbrow exhibition until September 12. Before or after the tour of the town, indulge in a culinary experience at Giacomo Pietrasanta, the Tuscan spin-off of the famous restaurant in Milan.

If you plan to stay overnight, we suggest you go back to the nearby Forte dei Marmi and book at the Augustus Hotel & Resort.

The Majestic Apuan Alps

A tour of the famous Carrara marble quarries is a not-to-be-missed experience for those visiting Versilia. Take the road that from Carrara leads to the small town of Colonnata – where you must absolutely have a taste of the famous local lard at Venanzio restaurant- travelling winding and steep roads, in a surreal scenery unique of its kind. Equally fascinating are the tunnels  of the Antro del Corchia park, one of Europe’s largest hypogenic complexes, with tours organized by the Conchia Park, as well as other beautiful activities, such as trekking and tours of a quicksilver mine. Crown the day by spending the night at another 5-star luxury hotel in Forte dei Marmi: Hotel Byron.
