From Renoir to Helmut Newton, from Goya to Roy Lichtenstein, from Hokusai to Cattelan… a year of art events not to be missed

ROY LICHTENSTEIN. VARIAZIONI POP E KEITH HARING
PARMA
2023 pop art events held at Palazzo Tarasconi in Parma will include exhibitions dedicated to Roy Lichtenstein to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the artist, famous for his comic strip experiments (from 11 February to 18 June) and Keith Haring, one of the masters of street art (starting from September).

RENOIR. L’ALBA DI UN NUOVO CLASSICISMO
ROVIGO
The works displayed at Palazzo Roverella (from 25 February to 25 June) show the effect that Renoir’s trip to Italy in 1881 had on his painting style. After that, he started to develop his own form of classicism characterised by the restoration of the drawing and the depiction of monumental figures.

IL MEGLIO MAESTRO D’ITALIA. PERUGINO NEL SUO TEMPO
PERUGIA
The Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria celebrates 500 years since the death of Perugino with an exhibition of about 70 masterpieces of the period, all created before 1504, when the great artist had reached the height of his career (from 4 March to 11 June).

REACHING FOR THE STARS. DA MAURIZIO CATTELAN A LYNETTE YIADOM-BOAKYE
FLORENCE
Palazzo Strozzi continues to exhibit contemporary art. From 4 March to 18 June, it will host the works of some of the most famous artists of today: Cattelan and Yiadom-Boakye, but also Damien Hirst, Sarah Lucas and Cindy Sherman.

UTAMARO, HOKUSAI, HIROSHIGE. GEISHE, SAMURAI AND I MITI DEL GIAPPONE
TURIN
From 23 February to 25 June there will be over 300 art pieces on the topic of Japan displayed at the Società Promotrice delle Belle Arti, many of them never seen before in Italy: prints, samurai armour, katanas, kimonos, and paintings, including masterpieces by Utamaro, Hiroshige and Hokusai such as The Great Wave.

NEWTON, VIOLA, EL GRECO, GOYA, BASILICO E ERLICH
MILAN
Another year of great exhibitions for Palazzo Reale. Among the most awaited are Bill Viola (24 February to 25 June), L’Eredità di Helmut Newton (24 March to 25 June), Goya. La ribellione della ragione (from 31 October to 3 March 2024), Gabriele Basilico a Milano (October to January 2024). And a surprise: the Argentinian artist Leandro Erlich, famous for his wonderful installations (from March to September).
