Ridley Scott tells the compelling story of the Gucci Family
05/03/2021
Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Jeremy Irons, Jared Leto and Al Pacino starring in the great film to be released on the occasion of the famous fashion house’s 100th anniversary.

100 years have gone by since Guccio Gucci, on his return from London where he had worked at an elegant hotel, decided to start, in his hometown Florence, a small leather goods company which would combine the sophisticated taste of British aristocrats and the craftsmanship of Tuscan artisans.

Gucci, however- whose signature logo, even after its takeover by the Gruppo Kering, is still the two interlocking Gs standing for the initials of its founder- is not only one of the world’s best-known fashion houses. It’s also the story of a family, of which the great film director Ridley Scott tells the most intense 30 years by bringing together a stellar cast.

Shakespearian-style story of intrigues based on the novel by Sara Gay Forden, whose title says it all: The House Of Gucci: A Sensational Story Of Murder, Madness, Glamour, And Greed.  The story revolves around the murder of Maurizio Gucci, the grandson of Guccio Gucci and at the head of the company at the time. The man who fired four shots at Maurizio, killing him on March 27, 1995, had been hired by his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani who served 20 years in prison as principal to the murder. The fortune teller Giuseppina Auriemma, known as Pina, a friend and advisor of Reggiani, acted as intermediary between her and the murderer.

Maurizio Gucci’s ex-wife, Patrizia Reggiani, will be played by Lady Gaga who, after her successful performance in A Star Is Born, returns to the big screen; co-starring, in the role of Maurizio Gucci, is Adam Driver, while Jeremy Irons will play Rodolfo Gucci, Maurizio’s father. The cast includes Jared Leto (the face for two of Gucci’s advertising campaigns) and the great Al Pacino.

The film’s shooting will take place in FlorenceMilanRome and on Lake Como.

The release date, yet to be confirmed, is scheduled for November 24.
